When the first 3D printer workshops began offering their services some years ago, I fantasized how a 3D figure could be connected to a book. I chose a first printing of Alan Hollinghurst‘s darkly erotic novel “The Swimming-Pool Library” for a try.
My friend Paul kindly agreed to being photographed by 48 cameras at a 3D printshop and the printed result was truly amazing. Even the title printed on the cardboard Paul was holding is readable!
My favorite bookbinder bound the book in beautiful blue leather and the 3D figure was glued to the book’s spine. I will certainly use this technique for a future Zagava book, but this one remains a unique piece.
