Content

In 1910 the pioneering photographer Charles Grey is assigned by a philanthropic trust to document the slums of Glasgow. While exploring the city, Grey chances upon strange paintings in the alleys. Intrigued he soon discovers that the artist is not quite what he expected: a young man called Fetch, destitute since being discharged from an institution, and adopted as a visionary guide by the spiritualist circle that shelters him.

While Grey takes the vulnerable artist under his wing, a peculiar turn transpires as Fetch becomes Grey’s unlikely mentor, promising to reveal the hidden world that he’s mapped in his paintings on the city’s back streets. As they embark upon their quest together, reports of missing children circulate, as do rumours of the emergence of a strange clairvoyant known only as the Infanta. The spiritualist circle soon charges Fetch with the task of investigating the source of this mystery, yet can his visions be trusted or are they evidence of incipient madness?

As Grey helps Fetch search for answers other hidden forces rise against them.

The Mirror Remembers
is a richly illustrated novel, a supernatural mystery that can be read in isolation or as a prelude to the novels In Delirium’s Circle and The Feathered Bough, as part of the resonant cycle of stories involving the artist-seer William Fetch.
