I am proud to present a truly unique item: a crocodile-leather former barber’s case, manufactured by Alfred Clark of New Bond Street around 1910!

“Alfred Clark founded his business in 1880 and was listed as a silversmith and manufacturer of fitted travelling bags, by appointment to HRH the Prince and Princess of Wales. Clark had several premises in the Mayfair area and moved to 33 New Bond Street in 1903, where he remained until 1916.”

My carpenter has created a custom bookshelf from the finest walnut wood that fits perfectly into the suitcase, and I am happy to discuss with any prospective buyer which Zagava books, and in which editions, should accompany the case. Everything is possible – from a collection of simple paperbacks to unbound proof copies, or an exclusively bound, one-off luxury collection.
